2025 MFES Recruit Fundraiser
In Support of Trillium Health Partners Cancer Care and Erica Howe
Each year, the Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services Operations Recruits are encouraged to raise both funds and awareness for a charity that resonates deeply with them. This year, they have chosen to support the Trillium Health Partners - Cancer Care Program, alongside MFES firefighter and former Toronto Sceptres goalie, Erica Howe.
On August 26, 2024, at the age of 32, Erica was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma, a form of breast cancer. She joined approximately 30,500 women diagnosed with breast cancer annually in Canada, embarking on a challenging journey against this disease. Throughout her battle, Erica has drawn strength from the unwavering support of her friends, family, and colleagues, as well as the dedicated nurses, doctors, and volunteers at Trillium Health Partners.
All funds raised will be directed to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation to support the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment, groundbreaking research, and the enhancement of infrastructure aimed at advancing early detection, improving treatments, and ultimately finding a cure. Together, we can make a significant impact and provide essential support and hope to those navigating their cancer journeys
